A Message from Our Founder
The Georgian Bay Cancer Support Centre is now an established and well –respected organization serving the growing needs of those living with cancer in the community. The Board of Directors and I have a responsibility to the community to plan for the successful growth of the GBCSC into the future.
With my support, the Board of Directors has decided that there needs to be a firm structure, which includes the recruitment of staff to manage and guide the GBCSC.
The centre is currently run by volunteers, including myself in the Executive Director role, but in order to have consistency and strong leadership, there is a need to have a full time Executive Director.
I am in full support of this recommendation, as I also have recognized that this position will require a commitment that I cannot take on, but am thrilled to support. I will continue as a volunteer at the GBCSC in whatever capacity I am needed. I will always feel honoured to be the Founder of this important community initiative.
It is with great pleasure that I announce Anna Hartman as the successful candidate for the role of Executive Director.
Anna impressed us with not only the knowledge and skills she brings to the role, but her passionate dedication to the community, volunteer roles with various groups and her recognition of the vital role that the GBCSC plays as a key community support – and her desire to see it grow.
The membership numbers continue to grow as in October GBCSC reached over 70 members served since the doors opened on May 5th 2011.
Finally, I would also like to extend my sincere appreciation to the Board of Directors, Members, Volunteers and Friends of the GBCSC who have demonstrated your unconditional support in my quest to establish a cancer support centre in the community. It has been an honour to serve my community in this capacity!
I look forward to seeing what the future holds!
