New Centre – December Update

143-rendering-side-onMike Dupuis of Nobody Does it Alone fame and principal at Dupuis & Ouellet Inc., Building Designers has been very busy this fall, working on the designs of our new Centre on Main St. in Penetanguishene. There have been many, many adjustments as we work through the various requirements for planning approval. Mike is also a Director of the GBCSC and along with Ellen Hartwick (Vice Chair), Sheila Webb (Chair) and Melissa Page (Treasurer) sits on the Facility Management Committee. This group has been hard at work for many months, including those leading up to the selection and purchase of the property.

They want to ensure that the final product will meet all the needs of the members both now and into the future. But right now, all efforts are being concentrated on getting the site plan application ready for the Town’s Planning Department. We are nearly there and expect to be able to put that application forward very early in the new year.

back-viewLooking at the current renderings, you’ll see how the new addition will look from the front, side and rear of the property. A new double driveway will lead to the back parking lot. The fully-accessible entrance is located at the side via a ramp. The enclosed porch at the front will be replaced by a wrap-around porch and we’ll retain the lovely wrought-iron railings and porch light that have graced this property for decades.

front-viewThe front of the property will be greatly enhanced once the over-grown bushes are removed, making room for a medicine-wheel garden and some additional parking. There is much left to be finalized on the plans for the inside of the Centre. We’ll share more with you in the months to come as we work steadily toward a goal of moving by late summer 2016.
