Cycle For Hope Raises a Record Amount for Local Cancer Support
The Georgian Bay Cycle For Hope, presented by For Sale on Georgian Bay, raised a record amount for those impacted by cancer in our local communities. The 14th annual event, which took place on August 16 in Penetanguishene and Collingwood, raised over $184,000 for the Georgian Bay Cancer Support Centre (GBCSC). This year’s event also marked the first time over 300 participants took part.
“It is such an amazing experience for our communities in North Simcoe and Southern Georgian Bay to come together to help support people fighting cancer,” says GBCSC Executive Director Dylan Lalande. “Cycle for Hope is our largest fundraising event and requires a small village to get off the ground each year. We are grateful to our riders, sponsors and volunteers. It is only with the help of everyone that we are consistently able to raise more money each year.”
This year’s event was also the largest in scope with the addition of a full event in Collingwood along with the Penetanguishene site. The Collingwood event alone raised over $42,000 and had over 90 participants. The expanded Cycle For Hope also presented the opportunity for a 145-kilometre Unity Route that several cyclists tackled on a sunny but hot, humid day.
There was plenty of fun for all ages at both event sites. In Penetanguishene, the Apres Velo Festival, organized by the Town of Penetanguishene, offered music, obstacle courses, bouncy castle, and much more. Over in Collingwood, the YMCA provided a range of fun activities for young and old.
Much of the event’s success is thanks to the participants who raised funds. The top cyclist was once again Sean Ouellet bringing in over $11,000 and his corporate team Ouellet & Associates raised $11,909.50. The top team was For Sale on Georgian Bay raising and impressive $12,330.
A special thanks to other major sponsors Deluxe, Tom Smith Chevrolet Buick GMC, Den Bosch & Finchley, Collingwood Optometry, Swing By, Rotary Club of Midland and the many other sponsors, donors, volunteers, and community supporters who helped make the 2025 Georgian Bay Cycle For Hope a great success.
The 2026 Cycle For Hope will take place on August 15 in Penetanguishene and Collingwood.
