Rawley Resort Raises Funds for GBCSC During Casino Night

Rawley Resort Employee’s Personal Cancer Fight Inspires Him to Organize Fundraiser for Georgian Bay Cancer Support Centre

Rawley Resort in Port Severn held a Casino Night on April 28 in support of the Georgian Bay Cancer Support Centre (GBCSC) in Penetanguishene.  Over $2,500 was raised during the evening event. The idea for the fundraiser was inspired by Rawley’s Sales and Event Manager Mark Brown, who had his own personal experience dealing with cancer.

I am cancer survivor myself and any little bit that I can do to help give back to help with overcoming and dealing with this disease is a no brainer,” says Mark. “Whether it be a loved one, friend, or co-worker, we’ve all been touched by this horrible disease.”

He added it just made sense to select the GBCSC as the donation partner for the Casino Night.

“We also wanted to make sure that we give back to the community that surrounds us and let people know that we are here in the community to lend a helping hand.”

Eric Walter, Executive Director, GBCSC, noted it was an amazing evening and a great time for all thanks to the amazing food, fun casino games, and excellent live music.

“This event went a long way in building new awareness among people who were otherwise unaware of us as well as really engaging a lot of our supporters in a really fun way.”

Based on the success of the Casino Night, Rawley Resort and the GBCSC are hoping to partner up on future events.
