Membership in the Georgian Bay Cancer Support Centre is free to anyone living with a cancer diagnosis, members of their immediate family and any caregiver actively providing support during treatment and recovery.
Classes of Membership
Full membership is available to anyone living with a cancer diagnosis. When applying for membership, you will be asked to provide information about your diagnosis and treatment. This information will help staff determine which programs will benefit you when you join. Our wellness, social, and expressive arts programs are open to both men and women. Group support and peer support are also available.
Immediate family of a Full Member may enrol as Family Members. Immediate family is defined as spouse, child, parent, grandparent or sibling. Family members may participate in any program offered by the GBCSC.
If you provide support to someone currently in treatment who is not related to you, you may join with that Member and attend programs with them. You will be asked to provide details of the supportive relationship that exists between you. Once the member you support transitions out of active treatment, your membership will become inactive. The member you support will continue to be a Full Member.
The Georgian Bay Cancer Support Centre offers programs for individuals who are recently bereaved and those who are providing end-of-life care at home. Transitional membership is active for one year.
